About me
50 Years of Home Baking
I started cooking and enjoying it in my teens, and I can recall writing to my grandmother (calling long distance in those days was a BIG deal) , so I’d write her a letter and she’d answer me back with solutions to questions I had about making certain favorite dishes.
One I remember distinctly was a pound cake she used tomake whenever we went to her house for a visit.
Because it was a big cake, the baking time (probably about an hour) was waaaaaaay longer thatn I could manage as a youngster.
So after allowing me to lick one of the beaters from her stand up mixer (my sister got the other one, and my brother got the bowl), she’d place a couple of small “mini-cakes” in the oven that would be ready in about 20 minutes. We’s eat that while waiting for the big cake to be get finisned baking and be cool enough to slice.
That was a long thime ago, but I rememebr it like it was last week. and call still recal every detail of her kitchen.
This began my love of cooking, baking, eating, sharing meals, and feeding others. It’s still with me more than 50 years later.
Me!
Hi! I’m Pam
I come from a long line of self-employed people as all my grandparents and my father were entruprenuers.
While I grew up (in a suburb outside of Los Angeles) I spent early summers in Mississippi with my grandmother whose family hailed from Louisanna. The stereotype about Southern hospitality and enjoyment of eating great food, didn’t come about by accident.
My Gramma really knew how to cook, and made sure to always have your favorites on hand when you came to stay.
Even though my dad was never one to cook, he really appreciated good food and I spent my early years being exposed to all sorts of ethnic specialities and California cuisine – we dined out a lot. He was willing to drive 45 minutes or more for a good hamburger, and always. always had room for dessert!
Where it all began
My Story
My earliest and fondest memories involve my grandmother’s cooking. The feelings of love and warmth during the time I spent in her kitchen and at her dining room table is what I honor & seek to duplicate in everything I do at Pam’s Bakery Bliss.
Is there a faster/cheaper way to make baked goods? Most certainly. But what you’ll find here is quality and caring you can taste – because everything is made from scratch. I don’t use boxed mixes, artificial ingredients, or things I can’t recognize and pronounce.
I want your belly to be happy, and for you to feel cared for. Paying attention to each other is what cooking from scratch is all about.
